Standing Councils

Council on Consumers, Youth and Families in the Workforce

The mission of the Council was to increase and enhance recruitment, participation, education, employment, retention and career pathways for persons in recovery from diverse backgrounds, including resilient youth (ages 16-18), young adults (18-25) and adults and family members in the behavioral health workforce. The Council helped to oversee, advise, and assist in implementation of the Connecticut Recovery Employment Consultation Service (C-RECS) initiative. The Council developed a statement on employment of individuals in recovery in the behavioral health workforce and provided advocacy on key issues that impact successful employment of persons in recovery in the behavioral health workforce.

The Council met monthly from 2008-2010 and was facilitated by two Co-Conveners. The Council had a minimum of 25 members and a maximum of 30 members, with an emphasis on cultural, ethnic and role diversity. A majority of members were individuals in recovery and family members; a number of members were consumer-providers employed in behavioral health workforce positions.
